I have decided to illustrate a story for my FMP as the compulsive drawing theme turned out to be strangely limiting and I really began to struggle!

When looking through some old slides at home I came across some images of my me with parents and my little sister Tess when we were all very young. Inspired by the memories these pictures provoked I started to put together a childrens story about a little girl and her imaginary ...or maybe not imaginary world that she inhabits along with the many weird and wonderful creatures that live there too. She makes friends with a grumpy old giant called Oliphant and together they have many adventures, these occur both in her everyday real and very urban environment and in another paralell world...where anything is possible!

I have started experimenting in photoshop with my drawings by overlaying them onto the photographs that I have either found or taken and have also made little 'sets' by placing cut outs in a scene and taking pictures. Some of the drawings I have made are A1 in size as it can be quite liberating to work on a large scale using big, bold lines. I will photograph these and possibly add collage to them to add more interest and depth.
